WEEKLY PROGRAMS

SING-A-LONG
Tuesdays and Fridays @ 11am, in the Mann Theater
This free treat is sure to get your little ones laughing and singing along with all your favorite classic children’s songs! Plus, every third Friday special guest singer, David Tobocman, joins us with his own top hits!

OPEN ART STUDIO
Tuesdays @ 3pm, in the Art Room
Each week, our studio welcomes young artists to participate in a new project. Drop in anytime the studio is open to create entirely original masterpieces!

BUBBLES
Fridays and some Wednesdays @ 3pm, in the Community Park
Lets get poppin'!

CULTURE CLUB
Wednesdays @ 11am, in the Art Room
Explore stories, songs, and cuisines from around the world!

STORY TIME
Thursdays and some Tuesdays @ 11am, in Bubbie’s Bookstore

This interactive story time is sure to keep the little ones entertained!

WIND WHIRL
Some Wednesdays and some Thursdays@ 3pm
in the Community Park
Creations take flight in our wind tunnel at the Discovery Airport!

MYSTERY BOX
Fridays @ 3pm, join us to find out location
Join us as we discover what's in the box!

SHADOW PLAY
Thursdays @ 3pm, at the Light and Shadow exhibit
Lets see what fun shadows your little one can come up with as they play around with different shapes under the light!

Sun, April 26 – Free To Be Me Drum Circle (3pm – 4pm)

Bummm bad um dumb a dum dum.  Grab a drum and feel the beat move you!  Join us as Free to Be Me Drum Circle guides us through the thrill, the fun, and the healing of the drum! http://www.freetobemedrumcircle.com

MAY

Sun, May 3 – Children’s Day (2pm – 4pm: art and crafts, 3pm: Kishin Daiko)

In many places around the world, including Japan and South Korea, Children’s Day is celebrated on May 5 as a festive way to recognize and celebrate children!  We’ll decorate Japanese Koinobori (carp-shaped wind socks), and make our own Korean Sogo (small hand-held) Drums.  Special performance at 3pm by Kishin Daiko, as they entertain and educate families with the dynamic, powerful and heart stopping sounds of Taiko (Japanese Drumming!) http://www.kishindaiko.com/

Mon, May 4 – Story & Art with PJ Library (11am – 11:45am) 

Join us for a special PJ Library story time, followed by an art activity in our Art Studio! Today's reading is about charity/justice: I Can Help by Hyde Costello - When this little duck gets lost, he needs help getting home where he belongs. Luckily, lots and lots of animals are available to help -- just the way a community should be!

($150) Sun, May 10 – Mother’s Day Concert: Birdie’s Playhouse (Free Museum Admission Day 12:30pm – 5:00pm, concert at 3:00pm)

Mommies are our favorite, and we want them to know it!  To celebrate Moms, we offer a fabulous gift option – a FREE day for the family at the Zimmer with a special concert with Birdie’s Playhouse! Sun, May 17 –  Art of Tinkering!

It’s time to take things apart, explore tools and materials, and build beautiful things!  Join us for an afternoon of tinkering, presented by our friends from East Los Angeles Community College’s Early Childhood Education program!

Mon, May 18 – Story & Art with PJ Library (11am – 11:45am) 

Join us for a special PJ Library story time, followed by an art activity in our Art Studio! Today's reading is about Shavuot: Sadie & the Big Mountain by Jamie Korngold - When her preschool plans a Shavuot hike, Sadie is afraid she won’t be able to make it to the top of the “mountain” and tries to think of ways to be avoid the walk. When the day arrives, it’s much different (and better!) than Sadie presumed.

Today's reading is about kindness to animals: The Littlest Pair by Sylvia Rouss - There isn’t one animal happy to see a pair of termites come aboard their temporary floating home. When things aboard the ark get slippery and uncomfortable and the little termites have a solution to their problem, all those creatures quickly change their tune.

Sun, June 21 – Father’s Day: Dress up Daddy! (2pm – 4pm)

Daddies are the best, and we want them to know it!  To celebrate Dads, we’re offering every Dad a funky new makeover!  Kids, decorate all kinds of crazy accessories from bow ties to hip hats just for Daddy!

Sun, June 28 – Celebrate Superman's Birthday! (2pm – 4pm)

Boom!  Wham!  Kapow!  Today we kick off our week long celebration of Superman’s Birthday (June 30)!  Decorate your own hero mask, create your own comic strip, test your superhero strength, and meet the man of steel himself – Superman will be making an appearance before he takes off to save the world! 

$1 off admission if dressed in superhero costume from Sun, June 28 – Thur, July 2!
